BIG Celebrates 10 Years of Service for the Community

BIG Celebrates 10 Years

How it all started

It all started with the need for a metal recycling facility in Brenham. A business began 10 years ago with the idea of taking recycling to the next level, giving area customers a better alternative for their scrap. By opening markets for metal recycling, Premier Metal Buyers was off and running. Together, the Brannon family brought their experience in business development, logistics, and residential waste disposal to form Brannon Industrial Group (BIG). In the beginning, BIG offered scrap metal recycling and roll-off dumpsters. Blake Brannon, BIG’s President, talks about why the company was formed. “We founded BIG to bring innovation to an industry that hasn’t changed in 50 years. With my family and our team, we are dedicated to bringing cutting edge solutions, integrity and a focus on serving our customers in every aspect of waste diversion and recycling.”

Over the past 10 years, with the acquisition of BVR Waste and Recycling, Stop and Go Potties, Fancy Flushes and 3C Disposal, BIG has become a one-stop-shop for waste and recycling for Brenham, the Brazos Valley and beyond.

BIG continues to develop markets for metal recycling, asset destruction programs, residential, municipal and commercial waste and recycling, portable sanitation, container rental, temporary fencing and more.

Growing the Business

Blake and his team have grown the business to 150 employees and processes 175,000 tons of material a year. In addition to bringing the first metal recycling facility to Brenham, TX, the Brannon family provides Construction and Demolition Recycling to Bryan/College Station to divert more tons from the landfill.

Giving Back to the Community

BIG has long been a leading business in their community and is committed to giving back. BIG was honored with the “You Make a Difference Award,” a recognition of individuals that were instrumental in initiating the donation and distribution efforts for Hurricane Harvey relief. Working together with Brenham ISD and the Brenham community, BIG delivered 14 tractor-trailer loads of donations in less than two weeks.

Brannon Honored as 40 under 40 Winner

Blake Brannon was recently chosen by Waste360 as a 40 under 40 winner for 2020.  The award honors the next generation of leaders who are shaping the future of the waste and recycling industry.

BIG has been awarded Best of the Brazos Valley for the past nine years and has received local awards from Keep Brazos Beautiful and various community organizations.
